Salik (Dubai Toll) – Money Making Scam or Effective?

December 14th, 2008 / 3 Comments » / by nastyrunner

Today, I am going to be talking about the toll system used in Dubai, known as Salik. The reason I chose to talk about Salik is because of the traffic jams happening everyday on the toll roads and to question the effect of Salik system.
According to the website of Salik, Salik meaning open or clear, is Dubai’s new electronic toll collection system launched in July 2007. The name Salik emphasizes the system’s congestion management objectives as well as the choice of technology for the toll system. The charge is AED 4 ($1.08) each time you cross the toll and there are Toll Gates as of now, Al Safa (Sheikh Zayed Road), Mall of the Emirates (Sheikh Zayed Road), Maktoum Bridge, and Al Gharoud Bridge. They all are in a radius of 25 KM.
Well, the self-claiming RTA said on September 17, 2008 (Link to the article), that the second phase of Salik is a success, and they have numbers which prove it. Wow, so one set of numbers which they have is supposed to be the most reliable, then why don’t they use alternative routes themselves. So, the toll gates are installed to reduce traffic congestion. But whereas if you notice, the traffic has increased even more. There are several reasons for this.

Indian Politicians should be put in Jail

December 1st, 2008 / No Comments » / by nastyrunner

The Indian politicians are saving their life by saying that they were strong when the whole incident happened. Mukhtar Abbas claims that people especially girls cannot wear makeup and put on lipstick and run the Government and fight terrorism. But he doesnt realise that he himself had put on lipstick and powder and was sitting in the house rather than being there in the situation. What is the difference between him and the regular people. Just because he is a politician? That doesnot give him the right to say any bullshit on TV. All the politicians in India are corrupt, and their bank accounts should be checked. Maybe they are the ones who have joined Pakistan and done this? Actually, it is not Pakistan but the politicians in Pakistan are equally corrupt. Why don’t they understand that the people have belief in them and that is why they have been elected! They make false promises, or if they are rich then they will use thugs to threaten people to vote for them. And then they bring in their friends and have a syndicate of their own. None of the politicians or the Activists were there at the scene of the Terrorism Act. Whereas they are the ones who have to secure the place and make rational decisions. But I am guessing they would transferring funds to their Swiss Bank Accounts so that even if Mumbai was ruined they can lead a happy and luxurious life. All those people working for these activists and politicians should not protect them and work for them. Instead should beat them up because they will not care about anybody but themselves. They are the biggest liars and if they need to save themselves, they can even sell their wives or mothers for it. They need to give an answer for all this? Why dont they care about the country, and care more that their son/daughter is in the Film Industry and if he is respected by all. Why do they have to worry about wanting different girls to sleep with every night than to worry about the security of all the people of the country. Everyone is resigning right now because anyways their term is coming to an end. And new people will be elected. Before they resign, their bank accounts, and outside India property should be investigated and taken away from them.

India Terrorist Attack

November 28th, 2008 / Comments Off / by nastyrunner

The terrorist attack in India is shocking and hard to believe. It happened in Mumbai, Maharashtra, where the terrorists had taken over Railway Stations and famous 5 star Hotels like Taj Palace and Oberoi. More than 100 people have been killed which includes civilians and police and army officers. The terrorists are aged between 20-35 and are Muslims. During phone calls with India TV, they wanted to pass a message to India and the whole world, that treat Muslims with Dignity and Respect, and the Muslims have the right to live. Moreover, the hidden demand from them was to release all the Mujahideens from the Indian jails and send them back to Pakistan. It is surprising that the two demands dont go hand in hand with each other. The source of entering the country was through a ship which sailed from Pakistan and was docked away from the mainland. The terrorist came in small rubber boats with alot of ammunition stuffed in a bag and with Nuts as a source of food and energy. They killed civilians blindly when they were running around. Let me discuss each point in detail.

Global Crisis

November 26th, 2008 / No Comments » / by nastyrunner

In the papers everyday, the main headline always says ‘GLOBAL CRISIS’. It is the worst time ever faced by the generations of today. How is it being takcled? Today Obama nominated its Economic Team, and said that it could get worse before it gets better! Can it get any more worst than this? I am guessing not! As of today, all of my investments have become 1/10th of what it was? I dont blame anybody but me because I was stupid enough to invest it and worst because I didnot remove the cash on the right time. The reason why am I still holding on? Because I have hope that it will rise. This is what I want to request everyone. Please dont withdraw your investments, because then you’ll be the one who will drag the market down. Who should we blame for all this? Only one person, that is George Bush. Why? Because he knew it very well his term is ending and he cannot be re-elected, so why not screw the whole world, and steal the money and have a lavish life where as everyone else is suffering. Why dont people catch him and put him in jail and question him? The crisis is so bad that people have to sell their stuff to eat. People are losing their jobs, and are scared that they might have to kill them selves because it will get harder and harder to survive. So are we living in a jungle? Where it is survival of the fittest and people like Bush are lions and they dont give a damn about anything but themselves. People and countries should work with each other and get things sorted out! It is a request from my side. If anyone wants to write anything, please do in the comments section

‘Tis the Season….

November 16th, 2008 / No Comments » / by tina

Here we are in the time of the year that you either love, hate or could really care less about. Me….when I was little I loved it. Fall has always been my favorite time of the year, well except for all the rain we get here in the lovely Seattle, Washington area. It is so green here during the summer months and you don’t really notice that a lot of the trees you are looking at are not evergreens…when you look at the mountains…all the trees look the same. Big, tall, and an evergreen pine version of a tree. Then Fall hits…and you get to a point where you look at those same hills again and you see the big evergreen trees that you can count on the stay that deep beautiful green all year long…but mixed in with it now you see trees that have leaves which are turning beautiful shades of red, orange and yellow. It’s really beautiful here in the fall. Then sadly those trees eventually loose their leaves as it gets colder and colder…and you now have brown twiggy things mixed in with the big evergreens. Oh well…just like Angelina Jolie….it was gorgeous while it lasted…but all outer beauty fades away at some point. Sorry Angelina…but the truth sucks…of course you have enough money to prolong the inevitable I’m sure. And my smart ass little comment leads me into what then starts to hit you this time of the year. At least, that is, in the good ole’ USA…

White Noise 2

September 30th, 2008 / No Comments » / by nastyrunner

If you are a fan of horror movies then White Noise 2 is a pretty good movie and worth a watch in the theatre because of its visual effects. The starting is a little disappointing but then the movie picks up and the story is worth a watch. Nathan Fillion has given his level best in terms of acting and performance as a husband/father who loses his family meaninglessly in a restaurant in splits of seconds right in front of him. This is a big shock to him and later he commits suicide as he did not try and save them. This is when the main story starts where he experiences a near to death situation and is able to see the “white light”. Moreover, he can see an aura around people who are going to die, and decides to save such people and make it a new purpose in his distorted life. There are many scary moments during the movie and the mystery of the murder is a seat grabbing experience.

Step Brothers…..oh my..

September 21st, 2008 / No Comments » / by tina

Ok…so went to see the movie Step Brothers the other night. Now…this movie is rated ‘R’, I’m making a point of saying this for a reason. The movie is about a man and woman who meet, fall in love, realize that they each have a son pushing 40 who lives at home…and they get married….aaawwwww how sweet. And you know it’s going to be an “interesting” movie when it has Will Ferrell in it. Oh..and you also know it’s going to be a bit cheesy…but good for a laugh if you need one.

Laptop Brands – Strengths and Weaknesses

September 21st, 2008 / 2 Comments » / by nastyrunner

Today I am going to talk about different laptops available in the market. The reason I am going to do this, is because I had to research for 1 month in order to come to a conclusion of which laptop to purchase. This will be less of a comparison and more of information related to each brand and what they really offer. The brands I am going to talk about are Acer, Apple, Dell, HP, IBM, LG, Sony, and Toshiba. Out of these, I have personally used Acer, Apple, Dell, HP, Sony, and Toshiba.

iPhone 3G vs Blackberry

September 13th, 2008 / 3 Comments » / by nastyrunner

Since both of these phones, that is iPhone 3G and Blackberry have constantly been compared with each other and considered as an ultimate rivalry, I will provide my view about both the phones.
When it comes down to buying a phone, let me list down a few points which are important to everyone. Battery Life, screen size and resolution, internet speed and browser interface, phone interface, user-friendliness, email configuration and interface, network reception, third party applications and last but not the least, is it trendy or good enough to be seen with it.
I will be comparing all those points with both the phones.

Earthquake in Dubai

September 10th, 2008 / No Comments » / by nastyrunner

2:57 p.m on September 10, 2008, Dubai : Earthquake was felt by me and many other people who I spoke to. I am guessing this will be the first blog reporting the earthquake, even before the local newspapers will. All I can say is that it felt like I was dizzy and wanted to throw up. Maybe I am stupid that I am writing a blog article instead of going below my building and saving myself, but I just wanted to write about this. I have no clue of why there is an earthquake or the Richter scale of it, but it sure was quite a long tremble of at least 5-8 seconds. God Bless everyone in Dubai, and nothing happens to this place
Cya!
